Anxiety

I  read  an article," Overuse of Internet causes Techno-Anxiety" few days ago.

Few lines from the article-“People get irritated and often this techno-anxiety leads to aggressive behavior. It causes mood swings and leads lack of concentration in work. Psychiatrists say they receive more than five and six cases of psychological problems caused by the overuse of internet almost every day.”

The main symptom of this anxiety is that a person feel restless if s/he is not able to use internet regularly.

SHOCKING but TRUE!!

No doubt, social networking sites are one of the most popular and easy way to keep in touch with friends and relatives .Blog is like a diary in which one can write his/her thoughts and can share with others. But excessive use of internet (in any form) or its obsession is wrong.

There is some controversy over whether it is possible to actually be addicted to the Internet or not. Some researchers, claim that it is simply people trying to escape their problems in an online world and cannot be classified as an addiction.Other psychologists, believe that Internet addiction is a true psychological disorder with definable symptoms. The symptoms are comparable to any addiction, withdrawal, loss of relationships  and significant time consumption.

Some Symptoms of Internet Addiction:
*Irregular sleeping habit
*Lack of concentration
*Mood swings
*Day dreaming
*Tendency to remain away from society
*Increasing amounts of time spent on computer and internet activities
*Failed attempts to control behavior
*Heightened sense of euphoria while involved in computer and internet activities
*Craving more time on the computer and internet
*Neglecting friends and family
*Feeling restless when not engaged in the activity

It is not wrong to say that social networking sites have become part and parcel of our life.Social networking sites and E-mail ,they serve different functions.E-mail may end up being more "formal" with longer messages, but it will maintain its place.I find e-mail as a better way to keep in touch with family members, friends and relatives as writing mail is more personal(than scraps and wall post),and you can have one to one talk.Compared to teenagers, the elders are reading more emails than communicating via social sites

When I was in school the most common topic for writing essay was "Science is blessing or curse? ",but in today's era  "Science" should get replace by "Internet" thus common topic for essay writing and discussion should be "Internet is blessing or curse?".

Strong determination is required to come out of techno anxiety.

Use internet, don’t allow internet to use you.

A Letter From A Teacher

I wrote a letter in "Carmel Waves" -- newsletter of Carmel Convent Sr. Sec. School Amlai,M.P,where I worked for many years.Leaving that institution was not easy for me,because not only  Sisters and few teachers but some of the students were very close to me.Although, many have read this letter in "Carmel Waves", still I am posting this letter on my blog for my students.

.........................................................................................
My dear students,

I still remember the day when I joined the school. Today I find myself writing a letter to say goodbye, and trying adequately to express my thanks to you all for allowing me to be a part of your life.

Dear kids, I want to let you all know that I enjoyed teaching you all a lot.You all paid attention in my class, you learnt—giving me a sense of accomplishment. I’m contented. It is not only hard but impossible for me to forget the staff and students of MY Carmel Convent Se.Sec. School . Yes !!!! I will always consider this school as MY own, I am emotionally attached with this institution and with my students too.

You all have been the brightest spots in my life. No matter how stressed I was about my own work, I was always happy to be in class with you all .Physical distance will never become a barrier to remember you all .You all will always remain in my thoughts forever. My loving children, as you grow, you may meet more and more expert personalities pushing back old ones, I hope and pray that you all will never forget the values which I want to inculcate in my each and every student.

I do remember all those functions (Annual function, teacher’s day, farewell) which brought me more closer to my students and I confess honestly that each and every one of you are talented. I used to eagerly wait for these functions as I have really enjoyed sharing all the fun during the functions together.

For most of my students I was strict and hard-hearted teacher, but may this letter reveal a softer side of me, which had become emotional just at the thought of leaving you all.

I am thankful to the management, that they gave me an opportunity to be the part of this school. I am also thankful to the staff members who are so loving, supporting and understanding. Teaching in Carmel was an amazingly pleasant experience.

Children, I know you all have a bright future and I wish you all to fulfill the dreams of your parents and teachers.

I want you all to know that I would love to hear from any one of you, any time, for any reason .I thank Almighty from the core of my heart for such amazing years. I will miss you all as we part ways, but I am taking with me more wonderful memories than you can begin to guess.

With lots of Love and Blessing
Yours ever Namisha Miss

Pride And Success

It is often very difficult to remain modest after achieving success, especially when people are heaping praise on one.Success brings with it a sense of achievement and satisfaction at having done one’s work well. It leads to happiness, confidence in one’s abilities, and a feeling of pride. The pride brought about by their success makes many people blind to the suggestions and advice of others. They close their minds and cannot accept that they may need help from other people.

Generally it is seen if one get success after a long struggle remains humble, modest and down to earth but those who get success in very young age or in 1st attempt may become arrogant and full of pride.

A proud successful person thinks himself to be the best person of the world,he look down upon the other people of society.Sometimes, such person start blowing his own trumpet, forgetting the  proverb- "Let another praise you, and not your own mouth."

Pride is -  pleasure or satisfaction taken in one’s work, achievements or possessions (Sahani Advanced Dictionary)

It is said , "Pride goes before a fall " means, if we are too proud and overconfident, we will make mistakes leading to our defeat.

It does not means that we should not take pride in our work. We should be proud of the things we achieve great and small. Pride is wrong if it is inordinate love of the self: super-confidence and distorted self-esteem that ignores one's shortcomings.

The main reason for downfall of many successful people has been their lack of humility and their overconfidence.

Overcoming pride requires humility. Humility is lack of self pride,it is not valuing yourself less than others, but it is recognizing that all gifts and talents come from God and acknowledging as such.It is said,"God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

For example, if someone were to compliment your writing skill, a prideful response would be- “You’re right, I am an excellent writer. I am the best.” A person who do not value himself  would response- “Oh, no, I can’t write.I don't think I am a good writer.” But a humble answer would be- “Thank you. I’m grateful that God has blessed me with this skill.”

One will achieve success after success if one keep in mind the importance of humility. Be confident but do not be overconfident. In order to remain modest, we should accept the praise without letting it go to our head. Remember to heed others people’s advice, to take their help and to accept the fact that we may be wrong.

Unfulfilled Wish.....

"Are you studying?"
I asked the 15-16 year old boy who came to our house for delivering milk.
He proudly said, “Yes in 8th class."
Only in 8th class, huh must have failed twice. I thought.
"Do you get time for studies????.........".I posed my customary question.
He smiled and said, “Actually I take out time for it."
"At what time you start delivering milk?" I inquired. He was not having dairy. He was working for a person having dairy.
"I have to say 'good morning' to cows at 5 am, and it takes nearly 4 to 5 hours to deliver milk in 10 to 15 houses, I get free at 10 am.” He answered.
"And when you wish 'good evening' to cows?"
"Same time in evening.” He grinned.
" So when do you get time for studies?" I kept vessel of milk to one side, and looked at him.
He was smiling...
"What????" I asked.
"Didi sa you are a teacher.Hai na"
"Eh!!  Yes....." I said.
Well, I was not at all surprised how he came to know this. God knows how people came to know about my being teacher. He put his cycle one side and stood in front of me, it seems he was not in a hurry. I was so pleased that after knowing that I am a TEACHER he didn't run away .I gave milk vessel to my maid to take inside and turned towards him, the deadly combination of a teacher and moral instructor within me was eager to shower words of wisdom.
"My school is from 10am to 3pm, and  I don't think attending school every day is necessary."He said.
What a thinking!! Just wait boy.....moral instructor whispered, whom except me nobody can hear.
“I attend school twice or maximum thrice a week. But  didi sa, apart from delivering milk, I have many work at home. I have three siblings all are younger to me; mother, father both are laborer ; they leave home early morning, and return home late. So, I have to take care of chores." He continued.
I interrupted him, “And you eat tobacco at such a young age?”
He was not ready for this one; paused for few seconds; cleared his throat and then answered, “I work so hard, it gives me energy!!!!.”
“What rubbish!!! Who told you that it gives energy? If you want energy eat healthy food."
“Healthy food is not for us didi sa, you can afford it,but poor people like us can not . I am selling milk day and night but my brothers, sisters are not getting even one glass of milk. We manage
roti sabzi and that’s enough for us.”He said wryly.
"Your parents know about your eating tobacco?” I felt disgusted with his answer.
"They too eat tobacco."
I looked at his face, he was telling me all this without any hesitation.
"See........ after eating tobacco you feel like your appetite is over, so one doesn't need the so called 'energy food'." He was explaining as if I was his student.
"You are completely wrong; if you will continue to eat this rubbish thing it will give you nothing except sickness. It is written on pouch also "eating tobacco is injurious to health”. Stop eating it; it kills a person slowly. Its not tobacco that gives you sense of full appetite, it’s your mind set."  I explained.
He gave me expression as if  I was talking in foreign language. He looked at me with question mark.
But I was not in the mood to give up, I asked, “How many times you failed in school exams?"
"Once ONLY! But my friends have failed twice, I am quite intelligent."
Wow! great, this is called confidence……
“And I manage to get near about 45%.” He added.
“Good.” It was my genuine response.
This boy works for 8 to 9 hours a day without holidays, take care of home and siblings, and attend school also. If he manages to pass, it is more than enough. He needs encouragement and support, rest all he will do by himself. I thought.
“Study properly. Once you get a degree , you can get good job. So try to concentrate on studies.” I advised..
Hahaha”, he was showing me his yellow teeth shamelessly, "Job…..I am doing job, my parents are uneducated still they have job, so I think one doesn't need a degree for getting job, I am doing job without a degree. Hihihi.
My blood started boiling after hearing his answer, I thought of stopping conversation and to ask him to run away from my sight, but then  I heard a inner voice PATIENCE
Yes! You all get it correct it was voice of moral instructor. I suppressed  my annoying feeling and managed a smile on my face. I pretended to him as if I was not at all affected by his stupid “hi hi hi”. I could give myself an Oscar for my effort !
“I am saying that with proper education you can get GOOD job. I am sorry to say this but your parents and you; all three are earning, but still can not fulfill the needs of family”.
Yellow teeth were invisible.
“So now you understand the difference between a job WITH degree and WITHOUT degree.”
He nodded his head, with moist eyes, he looked at me and said, “No one…didi sa no one....has asked me about my studies till today except you. Every body is asking about my work, my income . I love studies…I WISH to be a graduate …but...I am eldest son of my family I have to support my family….actually I want to work in bank…..”
He was becoming sentimental.
There are two important E’s in life- Education and Earning. For most of us education comes before earning. We should really thank our parents. We never had to worry about our food, clothing etc and we were never forced to leave our studies and earn a living.
But for poor people only EARNING is important, with or without education.
To change the topic I asked him, “Why you want to work in bank?”
“I want to remain surrounded by money…….”
Although he said this seriously but I could not control my laugh.
“Ok I wish you good luck.Say no to tobacco. I think you are already late we are talking for about last 15 mint.”I said.
“Oh yes! I am getting late, namaste didi sa.” And he paddled his bicycle as fast as possible.
After a week that boy disappeared, I came to know that his relative took him with them for a GOOD Full Day JOB(which means he has to sacrifice his studies). But still I am not able to forget his words, I love studies, I WISH to be a graduate ,I want to work in bank.......

BELIEVING IS LOVING

This excerpt is from the book. "BELIEVE ME ! GOD IS YOUR TRAINER", by D.K.Bhawsar.It has helped me a lot to grow as a teacher & i want to share this beautiful excerpt with you all.........
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Years ago there was a primary teacher. Her name was Ms Jaya .Like most of teachers ,she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same.
But that was impossible, because there in front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Thiru. Ms Jaya watched Thiru that he didn’t play well, with the others children, his clothes were messy and he constantly needed a bath. Thiru could be unpleasant .It go to the point where Ms Jaya would actually take delight in making his papers with a broad red ink, making crosses and then putting a big “F” at the top of his papers.
At the school where Ms Jaya taught ,she was required to review each child’s past records and she put Thiru until last. However, when she arrived his file, she was in surprise.
Thriu’s 1st grade teacher wrote," Thiru is a bright child with ready laugh. He does his work neatly and had good manners .He is a joy to be around."
His 2nd grade teacher wrote," Thiru is an excellent student, well liked by his classmates, but he is troubled because of his mother has a terminal illness and life at home must be struggle."
His 3rd grade teacher wrote, "His mother’s death has been hard on him. He tries to do best but father doesn’t show much interest and his home life will soon affect him if some steps aren’t taken."
Thiru’s 4th grade teacher wrote, "Thiru is withdrawn and doesn’t show much interest in school. He doesn’t have many friends and sometimes sleeps in class."
By now, Ms Jaya realized the problem and she was ashamed of herself. She felt even worse when her students brought her Christmas presents, wrapped in beautiful ribbons and bright papers ,except for Thiru’s .His present which was clumsily wrapped in the heavy, brown paper that he got from a grocery bag.
Ms Jaya took pains to open it in the middle of the others presents. Some of the children started to laugh when she found a rhinestone bracelet with some of the stones missing , and a bottle that was one quarter full of perfume. But she stifled the children’s laughter when she exclaimed how pretty the bracelet was , putting it on dabbing some of the perfume on her wrist.
Thriu stayed after school that day a long enough to say , Ms Jaya today you smelled just like my Mom used to.After the children left she cried for at least an hour.
Ms Jaya paid particular attention to Thiru .As she worked with him, his mind seemed to come alive. The more she encouraged him, the faster he responded. By the end of the year, Thiru had become one of the smartest child in the class .
A year after , she found a note under her door ,from Thiru, telling her that she was still the best teacher he ever has in his whole life .Six years went by before she got another note from Thiru .He then wrote that he had finished high school, third in his class, and she was still the best teacher he ever had in his whole life.
Four year after that, she got another letter ,saying while things had been tough at times ,he’d stayed in school, had struck with it, and would soon graduate from college with the highest of honors .He assured Ms Jaya that she was still the best and favorite teacher he ever had in his whole life.
Then four more years passed and yet another letter came, this time he explained that after he got his bachelor’s, he decided to go a little further. The letter explained that she was still the best and favorite teacher he ever had. But now his name was little longer the letter was signed ,Thiru Jaya Krishanan –M.D
The story doesn’t end there .You see there was yet another letter that sprung Thiru said he’d met this girl & was going to be married. He explained that his mother had died years ago & he was wondering if Ms Jaya might agree to sit at place at the weeding that was usually reserved for the mother of the groom. Of course , Ms Jaya did & guess what ? She wore that bracelet, the one with several rhinestones missing. And she made sure she was wearing the perfume that Thiru remembered his mother wearing on their last Christmas together.
They hugged each other, & Dr. Thiru whispered in Ms Jaya’s ear, “Thank you Ms Jaya for believing in me. Thank you so much for making me feel important & showing me that I could make a difference.
Ms Jaya, with tears in her eyes, whispered back. She said, “Thiru , you have it all wrong. You were the one who taught me that I could make a difference. I didn’t know to teach until I met You.”

Square of 2 digit number

Let us find square of number 34
1.Make 3 blocks for answer.
2.Write square of digit at unit place in 3rd block and square of digit at tens place in 1st block.(sq. of 4=16,write it in 3rd block and sq. of 3=9,write it in 1st block)
3.Find product of two digit and write answer in 2nd block.(3×4=12,write it in 2nd block)
4.By doing so u will find that ratio of 1st block number to 2nd block number, is equal to the ratio of 2nd block number to 3rd block. (i.e 9:12=12:16)
5.In 2nd block write the same number again.
6.For getting ans. add the numbers written in same block. While writing ans in 2nd and 3rd block you can write one 1 digit and the left digit will be carry over by the other block.
1st                  2nd                   3rd
9                     12                       16
                     +12
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
                                                    6

You can write 6(only 1 digit)in 3re block and 1 will be carry over to next block so in next block u will get 12+12+1=25 and u can write only 1 digit so write 5 and 2 will be added with number in 1st block. In 1st block u will get 9+2=11. In 1st block  u can write more than 1 digit.
Have a look
1st                2nd                       3rd
9                   12                         16
                   +12
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
11                     5                          6
Ans is 1156
(34)² = 1156

Let us take one more number 63

1st                   2nd                        3rd
36                     18                             9

Do Not Be Moody

Many people suffer because they are victims of their moods. Moody persons become easily depressed & unhappy, they become gloomy, short tempered, disagreeable & discouraged because they are unable to control their feelings & cannot face difficult situations bravely. They get into bad moods over small matters such as the bad weather or because they did not get their cup of tea. They feel morose because they are hurt by an innocent remark made by someone.
One never knows how to deal with a moody person because his state of mind keeps on changing so much. When he is in good humour, he will be optimistic, amiable & cheerful. He will readily agree to new plans; he will be bubbling with energy & will be willing to help anyone. But when he is in one of his bad moods; he becomes pessimistic, sullen, sour, unkind & discourteous. He infects others with his      gloom as a result, people try to avoid him.
A person who is touchy is always prone to moods. He feels that no matter what he dose, where he goes, or what he says, he is the center of everyone’s interest. As a result of his sensitivity, he becomes moody, irritable, dejected & disheartened.
If you are slave to your moods, you can never do your best. When things go wrong, you should think of the brighter side of life .The best way to keep out darkness is to switch on the light. The best way of shutting out depressing thoughts is to think of happy beautiful things. A person who smiles when things go wrong has a great advantage over those who cannot.
The next time you feel depressed & unhappy, try & analyse the reasons of your depression. If the cause of your feeling sad can be removed, put your best effort to do so. If it is something you can do nothing about, count the things in your life, laugh & play with your friends, see a cartoon, or read a funny book.

An anonymous poet has said,

For every problem under the sun,
There is a remedy, or there’s none;
If there be one, you must find it,
If there be none, never mind it.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry (trigonon "triangle" + metron "measure") is a branch of mathematics that studies triangles, particularly right triangles. Trigonometry deals with relationships between the sides and the angles of triangles, and with trigonometric function, which describe those relationships and angles in general, and the motion of waves such as sound and light waves.

Read the following sentence:
Some Of Her Children Are Having Trouble  Over Algebra
Break the sentence in 3 parts (different parts r shown wid different colour)
Some Of Her  Children Are Having  Trouble Over Algebra

U have to consider only 1st letter of each word.
1st letter of 1st word of each part(S,C,T) represent name of Angle.
Means- S-sine, C-cosine, T-tangent
And 1st letter of the remaining two words of each part(Of Her,Are Having,Over Algebra) represent the name of sides. Means,
O-opposite side , H-hypotenuse , A-adjacent side

In right angle ΔABC, A  &C are acute s.
Out of these 2 acute s v will consider A.
Since v have chosen ∟A, so side opposite to ∟A is CB , adjacent side to A is AB, & hypotenuse is AC .
NOTE: If v consider ∟C in place of  ∟A, the position of sides will change. In that case ,side opposite to  ∟C  will be AB and side adjacent to  ∟C will be CB ,hypotenuse will be AC .In right angle triangle, hypotenuse is a fixed side, like in the given  ΔABC side AC is hypotenuse. Opposite side and adjacent side will depend upon which acute ∟ v are considering.

Thus(trigonometric ratios of ∟A in right ∟tri)
SineA = Opposite ÷ Hypotenuse (where A is any 1 acute ∟of right ∟ tri)
CosineA = Adjacent ÷ Hypotenuse
TangentA = Opposite ÷ Adjacent
Angles of Sine
1st step:
Write nos.frm 0 to 4
1)0
2)1
3)2
4)3
5)4
2nd step:
Divide each no. by 4(as 4 is largest of all)
1) 0/4=0
2) ¼
3) 2/4=1/2
4) ¾
5) 4/4=1
3rd step:
Take square root of the resultant
1) √0=0
2) √1/4=1/2
3) √1/2=1/√2
4) √3/4=√3/2
5) √1=1
4th step:
The values in last step shows the values of sin0°,sin30°,sin45°,sin60°,sin90°
So we have
Sin0°=0
Sin30°=1/2
Sin45°=1/√2
Sin60°=√3/2(its root 3 upon 2, root is not over 2)
Sin90°=1
Note : As the angle increases, value of angle is also increasing.
Angles of Cosine
U don’t actually have to learn the values of Cosine and Tangent, if u have learnt the values of Sine. What u have to do is to write the values of Sine angles in reverse order for getting values of Cosine Angle. This means
Cos0°=1
Cos30°= √3/2(its root 3 upon 2,root is not over 2)
Cos45°=1/√2
Cos60°=1/2
Cos90°=0
Note: Sin 45°= Cos 45°
Angles of Tangent:
U have to use formula SinA/Cos A=Tan A where A is any acute angle.
Sin0°/cos0°=tan0°
Put value of these 2,i.e 0/1=0,so tan0°=0.
Similarly tan30°=1/√3
Tan45°=1
Tan60°=√3
Tan90°=∞ (b’coz 1/0=∞ i.e not defined)
Take reciprocal of SinA to get CosecA:
Cosec 0°=1/0=∞
Cosec 30°=2/1=2
And so on
Similarly take reciprocal of CosA which is SecA,n reciprocal of TanA is CotA.

Trigonometric identities-
An equation involving trigonometric ratios of an ∟is called trigonometric identity,if it is true 4 all values of the ∟(s) involved.
Basically there r 9 identities, I’l tell u tricks 2 learn all these.
U have 2 learn only 1 basic identity that is

1. sin²A + cos²A = 1 ---------------(equ 1) (for 0°≤A≤90° read it as where A can b greater thn or equal to 0° n less or equal to 90°)

frm (equ 1) u can get 2 more iden.
2. sin²A = 1- cos²A

3. cos²A = 1 - sin²A
Now what u have 2 do is to divide (equ 1) by sin²A

sin²A/sin²A + cos²A/sin²A = 1/sin²A

u’I get another iden.

4. 1 + cot²A = cosec²A
(where A can b  greater thn 0 bt less thn or equal to 90)
Frm this u can get 2 more iden.

5. cot²A = cosec²A – 1

6. cosec²A – cot²A = 1

Again take (equ 1) n now divide it by cos²A

sin²A/co²sA + cos²A/cos²A = 1/cos²A

So,here is new iden.

7. tan²A + 1 = sec²A
(where A can b greater thn or equal to 0° n less thn 90°)

Frm this u can get last 2 iden.

8. tan²A = sec²A – 1

9. sec²A – tan²A = 1
